Psychotherapy
Psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy (POP) is a depth-psychological method aimed at better understanding unconscious inner processes. It is based on the assumption that many psychological problems stem from unresolved conflicts of the past that still influence our thinking, feeling and acting today. By making these unconscious patterns visible and comprehensible within the framework of therapy, new ways open up to process old burdens and to shape one's own life more consciously.
A central aspect of this method is the therapeutic relationship. It serves as a space in which emotional and interpersonal dynamics can emerge. Together with you, I explore how earlier experiences affect your present experience and your decisions. This happens gently and at your own pace. Various therapeutic techniques are also used as a complement.
The variety of psychotherapy methods recognised in Austria can make choosing the right treatment difficult. Whether psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy is right for you is best discovered in a personal conversation. Please contact me to arrange an initial session at my psychotherapy practice in Vienna's 5th district.
When psychotherapy can help
The reasons for seeking psychotherapeutic treatment are manifold. Common concerns include:
- Psychological burdens such as anxiety, depressive moods, panic attacks or obsessive thoughts
- Difficult life situations such as separation, loss or professional and personal crises
- Interpersonal challenges, such as conflicts in partnerships, families or circles of friends
- Exhaustion and overload, e.g. burnout or chronic tension
- Psychosomatic complaints for which no physical cause was found (e.g. headaches or back pain, sleep disorders)
- Processing of traumas or other stressful experiences
- Self-awareness and personal development, such as understanding one's own patterns of thinking or behaviour
